Weekly Wednesday Blogging Challenge: Four Favorite Things I love to do During Summer

So I am joining in on the fun that Long and Short Reviews  have started which is Wednesday blogging challenge with some other romance writers and bloggers. Excited and a little nervous to see how i hold up with this but I’m in for the count.  So it here goes…

Summer is my least favorite time of the year. I want to stay inside and hide but then again I live in the south and the humidity is ridiculous. It could be 80 degrees but feel like 100. So you can say I hate it as I am a cold type of person.

What does someone even do to beat the summer heat? Living in Alabama does not help at all to this annoyance I have with summer heat but there are tons of things to do to help alleviate this discomfort.

WATER

The summers are hot, everyone thinks of bathing suites, tan lines and sand. Sometimes I wish i was on the beach with the sand between my toes and maybe this year I will go. So soaking up some rays by the water. Be it at the pool, beach or somewhere on vacation. If i lived by the beach I would be there all the time and im not a beach person – I enjoy it for like a week then I want pine trees and mountains!!!!

That first dip of the toe or the quick submerssion into water – there is NOTHING like it especially when your sweating from just walking outside. Its like being hugged by a comforting force that wants to help you relax after working very hard… And the bonus is you get to workout by swimming or treading water. So that is a plus!

Sweet Treats

Summer makes everyone want to taste the delicious ice cream to help cool off. Of course after those calories wait 30 minute before getting back in the pool! So you can work off those calories and enjoy a relaxing dip while getting to snack on sweet treats such as ice cream, smoothies, and so much more!

My go to treats are ice cream pops made from fruit! We have a local place here called Suzy’s Pops that is located in this cool building that once was a former textile mill is the backdrop for this cultural complex of myriad artists & performers.

I’m a daughter to a super chocolate-aholic as she calls herself and I just am not that big into sweets. Maybe her sweet tooth was so strong mine didn’t develop? Of course my go to treat is fruits and ice cream!

Campfires!!!!

A classic campfire with all my close friends while we enjoy a beer, a book or just each others time. Of course we can not forget about the classic campfire treat, Smores. The crackle of the fire, the crisp night air and all the laughter. It is heart warming and I do this every year with friends. This year will be a little different but that is the fun of watching us all grow and change over the years.

The way the air whisk around you and how you can forget what time it is by just enjoying life. I remember driving out to a local bridge and parking under it with a old friend of mine. She brought beer and I brought snacks. We spent all the hours there watching the boats, cars and time pass. Me and her are not close anymore but that memory has been forever stuck into my mind as a pleasant moment we will always share.

Spontaneous Adventures

there is just something about summer time and shoving everyone into the vehicle to drive 1+ hours to do something in a city over. Heck – We do this during all the months anyway. Even if we go somewhere and something spontaneous has happened! Like seeing a celebrity randomly and getting to meet them!

It is like the time I surprised my now fiance and future step daughter with a random adventure – we went to the zoo in a neighboring city. It was wonderful and got to experience the city as a little family. Or randomly going with friends to shop at Ikea for no other reason than to get ideas for our place.

  1. I am so excited you joined us! I’m the opposite as far as summer/winter goes… I love the heat! When I get cold, I get cold down to my bones and it’s hard to warm up. I do agree with you though as far as the water goes. I’m a born water-baby. My post is here.

    1. I might as well! 🙂 And gosh! My Fiance is the same way, he could live on a island and be just fine while i’m in 80 degree weather and can’t take anymore clothes off haha. I rather be in snow… But you know that!

  2. Welcome to the Wednesday Weekly Blogger Challenge! I’m glad you decided to join up.

Going to the beach is something I love doing, too. And campfires! I haven’t had a s’more in years, but they’re delicious.

    My post.

  3. I like the way you think. Welcome to the blogging challenge. You did well.
I’m all for campfires and snacks in the summer. I love to swim, but I’m not all that great at it. I’ve been south and I know how hot it gets. I give you props for handling it.
    Welcome to the blogging challenge!

    1. Thank you for the warm welcome!! I’m not all that great at swimming either but there is a local swim lessons that are free – I been taking them even before I gave birth months ago. It has helped!!

  4. I’m in much the same boat: Texas is painfully hot in the summer, and I am a cold-weather person. (Also, I am much more prone to sunburn than I was in my youth.)

    1. Oh gosh Texas is! I’ve been to Houston and Fort Worth/Dallas area a bunch (Family!). Make sure you apply that sunscreen when you adventure outside!

  5. I live in Nevada and our heat is epic. Hahaha. But we have extremely low humidity (it’s like 9% currently) so that brings its own drama with it. But water and anything frozen or slushy is always welcome.

    1. Oh gosh! I can imagine but that brings sand storms doesn’t it? I’m not sure how I could handle that.. Slushy and frozen are my favorite words next to fruit or drink.

      1. It definitely can, although they aren’t as bad as they used to be. Too much grass and whatnot now. Hahaha – my boss was joking about having margaritas at 8 AM this morning so yeah, I’m with you on that. 🙂

    1. hehe ice cream or anything cold is a winner here! Although every lives on sweet tea with way too much sugar – I prefer hot tea but it is just way too hot.
